New Laptops at Dexter Middle
Teachers, there are some IMPORTANT points to keep in mind about your new laptop. Please note:
Certain applications will have to be re-installed on your new laptop. One of these is Netscape Communicator. Go to Google and type in Netscape download for Mac. Find a link to a Netscape download and download Netscape. You’ll receive instructions on how to get the application to your applications folder.
There may be files on your old hard drive at the hard drive level that did NOT make it to the new laptop. Files not in your Documents folder were not copied over. You will need to move these by either putting them in your drop box and getting them from there, OR you may copy them to a flash key, OR burn a CD and upload those files to your new laptop.
To properly break in your laptop’s battery, let it fully charge, then let it fully run down one time. After that, you may charge as needed.
There is an IMPORTANT sticker on the back of your laptop. This shows the dates of your warranty and the phone number to call for any questions you may have about your new machine. ALSO you may call The Apple Store in Saddle Creek Shopping Center and make an appointment for them to check it for you. You will have to re-set your Home location if you had one set. Look at your old laptop and see how you had your home location set up.
Run software update right away. You will probably have to run it again after your laptop restarts from the first update.
