If you’ve recently upgraded to Tiger, and you’re having a problem getting your laptop to recognize your USB printer, try this:

Delete the printer from your list completely. Unplug the USB connection. Re-start your laptop. Plug the printer back into your laptop. Open a document and go to File — Print (without adding a printer). Let the laptop build the printer driver itself. It should print for you then.
